The countdown has started

Yesterday morning on the drive into town for our weekly shop it was apparent that the countdown to the TT Races has started in earnest.

The main route into town was strewn with cones and temporary traffic lights as various teams of men were filling in potholes, painting white markers on the kerbstones and putting up the bales and protective cushions along the roadside walls and telegraph poles.

It is only a couple of weeks or so now until the motorbike invasion begins and we retreat into our shells until the mayhem is over.

  1. A lot of noisy bikes and noisy spectators I guess. I would retreat too.

    1. Oh yes. Trying to drive along narrow, twisty roads with bike fans zipping past you on both sides. It is difficult to know where to look to avoid a collision!

  2. I had never heard of the TT Races, but I looked it up and found lots of information. I read that it is considered quite dangerous, too. Can't blame you for hiding away! In Saratoga Springs, where I grew up, we have a month of horse racing every summer. Our town becomes a different place - so much traffic and so many people. The locals breathe a sigh of relief at the end of the month!

Although I am quite used to talking to myself, any comments on my posts are very welcome, provided they are not abusive. I do reply to them so please check back. It's good to talk (!)
