A Warm Glow

Yesterday afternoon I did a volunteering shift at the Wildlife Trust gift shop.  It was a very busy afternoon and I found it quite tiring, however, I did receive an unexpected compliment from a customer which made my day.

I was chatting to a couple about the use of plastic and she told me she is in her fifties and remembers shopping with her mother as a child when fruit and veg were sold loose and put into paper bags for taking home.  I was agreeing with her when she asked if perhaps I would be too young to remember that. I pointed out that I was probably about 10 years older then her and she professed not to believe me, saying that she thought that I was younger than her!  I did suggest that perhaps she needed to visit Specsavers but I thanked her for the compliment and we had a chuckle about it.

Another blogger wrote recently that we should always try to be nice to others  and I think it is true that receiving a compliment or a kindness from someone does brighten your day.

It may be a coincidence but I was trying out a new makeup from Avon yesterday.  Perhaps I should go and order a truckload now, just in case.

  1. Perhaps you look much younger than your years because you have lived a trouble-free life with little stress. Or could it be that you have always used Oil of Ulay to keep your skin looking youthful?

    1. Or the health-giving effects of consuming champagne and strawberries every day?

  2. I am so with you on acts or words of kindness. Apparently, I am a naturally kind person (I've been told this a lot) but I do try and spread as much kindness as I can on a daily basis. The other person is pleased and/or happy and you, too, feel good. It's a win win situation!

    1. So true. I only wish more people felt the same way!

Although I am quite used to talking to myself, any comments on my posts are very welcome, provided they are not abusive. I do reply to them so please check back. It's good to talk (!)
