Father's Day

I think this is one of my favourite photos of my dad and me. It is not a particularly glamorous shot but it brings back strong memories of him as a young father (he was 26 in this photo) and a loving dad.  This is a few years before my mother decided to walk out on us and caused his eventual breakdown.

I loved my dad very much and prefer to remember him this way rather than the way he was at the end.  So, remembering you on  Father's Day tomorrow Dad, wherever your spirit may be.

  1. My father was a rather aloof, Victorian, type of person, who never really showed any emotion. However, I'm eternally grateful to him for his generosity.

    1. Perhaps his generosity was his way of demonstrating his love?

  2. Glad that you remember him with such love. I was lucky in that I had a good home life with a mum and dad who both loved me and made me childhood a happy one. I think Father's Day is a day (as is Mother's Day) when one should remember specially - although one does remember every day.
