My Happy Place

Sunday afternoon and the sun finally put in a brief appearance.

I was idly gazing out at the garden whilst P was listening to the cricket on BBC Five Live and was suddenly struck by how happy I felt at that moment.

Earlier I had been fretting over how much I still had left to do before our paying guests arrive for the Festival of Motorcycling races.

It is amazing what an effect nature can have on one's mood.

  3. When I read your blog I always think of our best friend and our HGV fitter who died on the last lap of the last race on the last day of the Centenary TT 2007. The Race of Champions was waiting to begin and still went ahead. I have never come across a blog from the Isle of Man before. I enjoy your blog and always read it even though I don't comment but today I thought I would tell you about our friend. My parents used to go to the Isle of Man in the 1950s and we all followed motorcycling.

    1. Thank you Rachel. I also read your blog each day and find your posts interesting and stimulating so I am pleased that you enjoy my more mundane posts.
I remember the incident you mention. It was horrific and he was so young, if it is the same person you refer to.
The recently named Festival of Motorcycling is currently underway here. It used to be called the Manx Grand Prix and many of us still refer to it by that name.

    2. It was very sad. He was about 30 at the time. I believe 1 or maybe 2 marshalls were also killed in the accident. Thank you for your comment re. my blog.
