Getting Back To Normal

We finally arrived back home on Wednesday evening, after what seemed like an endless journey, to a distinctly chilly house.  The heating was switched on tout suite and the kettle put on for a cup of tea.  I left the unpacking until the following morning.

Now, on Friday, my body clock still hasn't properly adjusted to Isle of Man time.  I have been falling asleep around 7 p.m. but forcing myself to stay up until I can no longer manage to keep awake - usually 9 p.m.  Then I am awake again by 5 a.m. which is far too early for me.

I am hoping I shall be back to normal soon.

Lots of bills arrived while we were away and I have managed to pay them all today.  Unfortunately, we also came home to find a letter from our bank advising that our local branch is to close soon, which means if we need to do any cash transations we shall have to travel to either Douglas or Ramsey, the only two branches that will remain on the island.  Not very convenient.

Tasmania already seems so far away but I shall sort through my photographs and will probably post some of them over the next few days.  You have been warned!

  1. I am pleased to discover that you have got back home safely after your adventures Down Under. Couldn't you bank at The Post Office?

    1. Unfortunately Isle of Man Post doesn't offer banking facilities.

  2. Do you have public transpor Jaycee? The Isle of Man sounds like rural Ireland.

    1. Yes we do have a bus service, although a little limited out where we are. We could drive into either town in 30 minutes to bank but it it is not as convenient as a 5 minute trip into Peel.

  3. Glad to see you back. I have got used to not using the bank very much although I still have my branch still 6 miles away but I doubt it will stay much longer. Contactless is a godsend.

    1. Thanks Rachel. We are still in the dark ages as far as banking is concerned. My OH doesn't trust contactless yet so we still use cash a fair bit. That will have to change soon when the branches close.
