Friday started with a scenic drive up from our lakeside overnight accommodation stopping to view some interesting sights along the way.
We arrived at the ferry terminal for the midday crossing over to Maria Island National Park. The island is a protected area and the ferry is the only means of access. You have to buy a National Parks Pass with the ferry tickets and passenger numbers are controlled. There us no food and drink available on the island so you have to take your own supplies and bring back all your rubbish.
We spent 5 hours there and saw some wonderful wildlife including wombats, wallabies and kangaroos.
A bleak but beautiful place.
"Tut, tut ..". Skippy the bush kangaroo.
