Parky

We had arranged to meet friends for coffee up in Ramsey this morning so left home around 9:30 so that we could do some grocery shopping before meeting them.

The garden thermometer was showing 4C but the wind chill made it feel much less than that. It was the kind of wind that scoured the skin from your face and made your teeth ache.

After packing the groceries in the boot of the car P suggested a walk around the lake before meeting our friends in the coffee shop.

My response was in the negative.

  1. Balaclava and gloves perhaps? I get annoyed when cars drive so close to me when I am walking along the country roads.

    1. Yes, I was not really dressed for an Arctic hike as we were just supposed to be shopping then having coffee. I agree about the cars. I have given up walking along our lane as they whizz past so close I almost end up in the ditch.

  2. A cold wind blowing you around as you walk is most unpleasant. Sorry, freezing, not cold. You made the right choice!!!

  3. Coat with a thick warm hood. You can go anywhere in a coat with a thick warm hood. Like Scott of the Antarctic.

    2. But bear in mind what happened to Scott of the Antarctic.

  4. It was very cold in the east today but it was a dry, cold. I always wear a hat so that keeps me warm. If your head is warm then the rest of you will be warm. Today I had gloves on for some of the time but, as usual, found that my hands in my pockets were warmer without the gloves. I have a 30 minute walk across Norwich to my Thursday class, each way.

    1. Yes, my friends were wearing woollen hats when we met up. They had walked across the park from the bus station. I must get one.

    1. It is slightly warmer here today and drizzly with no sharp wind. We must have had a northerly blast yesterday.
