Street Scenes

Just some general scenes from the  towns we visited on our journey.

Inside this wonderfully preserved general store is this lifelike dummy cashier set up above the sales floor, complete with the original working zip wire cash system

A connection here to the Isle of Man - amazingly small world!

  1. The shops remind me of Ike's Hardware Store in the Walton's. Very nineteen thirties style.

  2. Love the quaint little country stores. It's like a land where has stood still.

    1. In the west especially. The east is much more modern, but still wonderfully laid back.

  3. Lovely photos! I loved the facsimile of an old fashioned store with the life like cashier. I remember those cash wire zip systems in the drapers shop in the town in Ireland where my mum grew up. Everything in every shop then (1961) was wrapped in brown paper and string...

    1. My OH says he also can remember the zip wire cash system in use in a store in his home town in Sussex. Not really all that long ago!
