A Day Trip

Thursday morning we took the local bus which takes an hour and a half to wind its way up over the mountains then down through the forest to the west coast town of Valle Gran Rey.

Spectacular views along the way but the bus sped along at such a great lick it was tricky getting any photos.

We found a restaurant that had been recommended to us the day before and had their goat stew for lunch. It was delicious but so much on the plate! We did finish it all but couldn't eat anything more for the rest of the day.

An hour's stroll around the bay to the ferry port and we caught the boat back to San Sebastian,  admiring the varied rock formations all around the coastline.

Elfie enjoyed his day out.

  1. Naughty Elf saw his reflection in the bus window and noticed that he was very thin. He said to Mummy Elf, "Do you think I am anorexic?"

    1. What, with all that goat stew and ice cream he's been scoffing???

    2. Perhaps he barfed it all when you weren't looking. Anorexics can be very devious in that way.

  2. Will Elfie be writing a book about his travels?

    1. He may well do so when he returns home to Father Christmas next week.

    1. I smuggled him on board in my handbag. He got a bit squashed though. Serves him right for eating all that food.

  4. That was nice to take the ferry back. I found the island in my atlas - it looks so small I'm surprised it took a whole day to travel all around.

    1. It may be small but the roads are very steep and winding as they have to navigate around the mountains in the middle.

  5. Beautiful scenery!

We make goat curry here which is delicious but I've not tried goat stew - yet!

Elfie certainly knows how to enjoy himself!
