It's Still Winter

Despite the relatively mild weather so far, Spring has not yet properly sprung. At least, not here.

We have more warnings of storms on their way, with Ciara set to hit us tomorrow.  Ferries cancelled again and the likelihood of damage to properties plus fallen trees etc.
We are under that red bit in the middle...

As one of our local weatherman said in a deadpan manner, "It's winter. We get bad weather".

He's not wrong you know.

PS:  An update for those who expressed an interest in yesterday's incident, it seems that there had been a fire in the property overnight. An elderly lady died and a male resident is in a serious condition in the hospital.  Very sad.

  1. What a horrible way for the elderly lady to go. Don't worry about Ciara, the noble St Peregrine will save you from the storm.

    1. It is indeed horrible.
P is prepared for Ciara; he has collected more pallets from the builders yard to keep us warm and we have a few candles. I just hope he remembered the matches.

    2. I thought only hedgehogs hid under pallets.

  2. It's still winter all right. Youre in for some more nasty weather. Hope spring appears afterwards.
    Still waiting for it here.
There have been a spate of house fires in Athens lately with elderly victims.
Keeping warm is not always easy for the elderly

    1. Too right. We don't yet know the cause of the fire but I expect more news will be released following the investigation.

    1. Well then, perhaps we shall look for things that make us happy and try not to let the sad things take over. I will try to come up with something less sad tomorrow!

  4. Not cold here but then it is summer - well it's supposed to be- but the strangest one we've had for a while. Keeping cool for many involves taking a packed lunch and a book and spending a day in an airconditioned shopping centre.
People say - it's summer, we get fires. Not like this year though.
