We met up with friends last night for a meal in our local hostelry.
Usually the weekends are very busy and it is often difficult to book a table for the eight of us.
Sunday night however, we were able to book for 7 p.m. with no problem. When we arrived there was only one other table taken, with just 3 customers.
We were there until 9:30 p.m. and only 2 other people came in during that time. The public bar at the back was empty all evening.
This morning we popped into our small local supermarket to buy milk, bread, eggs etc, just the usual weekly essentials. The shelves for toilet rolls, hand wash and disinfectant wipes were all empty. How absolutely ridiculous. The global madness of panic buying has even reached over here now.
Sheep and headless chickens come to mind.
