A Celebration

This year our wedding anniversary has coincided with Easter weekend.

We had originally planned to celebrate the occasion  by taking a short break in Valletta, Malta.  Of course that is no longer possible so it will be a chocolate Easter egg and a bottle of fizz at home instead.

P managed to pop a chocolate treat from Green & Blacks into his supermarket basket this week,  my favourite rich, dark chocolate.

I dug out some photos from our previous trip to Malta to remind me of the fascinating history of the Knights of St John, and the WWII siege amidst the crumbling streets of Valletta and the ancient walled cities of Mdina and Rabat.

Here are just a few of them (taken with a very ancient mobile 'phone).

    1. Thanks northsider. He was taking the pony to a patch of rough ground in the town where he then collected weeds and plants to fill that plastic bag he is carrying. We watched him for a while before continuing our walk.

    1. I was fascinated by its rich history, walking around those ancient streets brought it all to life.
I would like to go back sometime.

  4. Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary JayCee. Did you get to visit Gozo when you went to Malta? I think I preferred that island. But like Chris Packham I was disgusted by the bird shooters.

    1. No, we didn't have time to visit Gozo, we were only there for a few days thinking that would be plenty of time to see everything, but we were wrong!
I agree about the birds. That still seems to be going on in other countries throughout Europe too.

  5. Living through you vicariously again, JayCee. Malta is somewhere I would like to have visited, probably never will now. Happy Anniversary!

    1. It is an interesting place for its history and that it still seems to look like it must have done centuries ago.
