My sister shared this photo with me recently.
It is Dad as a teenager just before he was called up to do his National Service.
I may be biased(!) but I think he was a handsome chap.
He would have been 86 this year if unfortunate circumstances hadn't taken him away too early, aged 71. At least he is no longer around to experience this latest threat .
I still miss him.
But isn't it good when we have very happy memories of our parents? Doesn't happen to everybody.
ReplyDeleteToo true.
DeleteThat's a lovely photograph. Thanks for sharing it JayCee. I wonder who the young woman in the middle was and where was the picture taken?
ReplyDeleteThe photo was taken in the street where they lived, in a West London suburb close to Heathrow Airport. I have no idea who the young woman was but I understand that the group was a "gang" of friends.
DeleteThey look an entertaining bunch. Lots of laughs. I've always thought looking at pictures like this that every generation thinks it's new and original, but people have been the same always.
ReplyDeleteI am told they were a bunch of scallywags. Very naughty.
DeleteVery handsome .... he looks a bit like my Dad ..... tall and slim. Although my Dad was older .... he would have been 103 this year ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteTall, dark and handsome. Well, I inherited one of those attributes anyway. The rest came from my mum - short, fair and plump!
DeleteThe look like Teddy Boys. Super photo.
ReplyDeleteThey all appear to be dressed identically don't they?
DeleteThey do JayCee.
DeleteNot only handsome but tall too. A devastating combination. I bet he was a bit of a ladies man!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris. Actually he was a very shy man, especially around women. I think it was my mum who made all the running, he wouldn't have had the courage!
DeleteHe is very handsome. Sorry he died so young.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marjorie. It is always sad when loved ones die early.
DeleteVery good looking!

I am biased though xx
