Coffee

I am extremely partial to a large mug or two of freshly brewed coffee every morning.  We get through a fair amount of the stuff each week. It's one of the things that keeps me going.

My preferred brand is Lavazza Rossa ground coffee, which we brew in our old drip feed machine, using (unbleached) paper filters.  I am not keen on the Nespresso pod type coffees.

For the past week or so we have noticed that there has been none of the Lavazza coffee, nor the paper filters, on the local supermarket  shelves.  Shock, horror!  We may run out of the stuff!

This week we have had to resort to ordering it online from Amazon,  the only place that will deliver it here at a reasonable cost.

I hope this is not a sign of an imminent worldwide coffee shortage.  I shall be forced to resort to gin.

    2. I make it that strong it sends you to the bathroom for a number two. Just the smell of it sometimes.

    4. I don't even miss milk anymore. But I don't like jars of instant coffee. Do you remember the pub in the first Star Wars film? I think I have met a few of the regulars😊.

    5. I can't drink instant. Horrible stuff.

    6. The only coffee I ever drink is intant - Italian freeze dried from "Waitrose". None of that faffing around you get with so-called "real" coffee.

    7. You stick to that instant rubbish YP and leave the good stuff for the rest of us.

    8. Okay. Sorry that my palate is not as continental as yours JayCee. That's because I am a barbarian.

  2. I drink a big mug of tea in the morning. My morning mug holds a pint. However, when on holiday abroad I never drink tea as it never tastes the same. Funny that.

    1. Yes, tea is not quite the same elsewhere. I think it is usually to do with the water. Often, it is made with just warm water, not boiling water, which makes a big difference.

  3. Not sure which is worse for some-no coffee or no TP. Still can't get toilet paper over here (US). Tea drinker myself and well-stocked up at the moment (stocked DH's coffee supply, too). Only order hot tea when in UK where it is actually made with boiling water. In the US places seem to think wafting a little heat over a cup with a Lipton (ugh) tea bag will do. Horrid.

    1. I know. Hotel room tea and coffee tray contents are usually pretty awful too. We take our own!

  4. Like YP I've got a pint tea mug - it says The Big Mug on the side. Strong coffee gives me heart palpitations.

    2. Back to Mr Dunham! Great minds think alike. My mug also has "The Big Mug" on the side. The writing refers to the vessel and not to the person holding it! Mine is black and white.

  5. Spotted you on a mutual friends blog and thought I'd pop in to say hi. It's always fun to meet new bloggers. Years ago while we traveling in Spain, we liked the coffee that was in the condo where we were staying. We looked it up and thought it was funny, as it's German coffee. So now we always order it on line through Amazon here in the states. It's not stocked in any of local stores to date. Just re-ordered a few days ago and filters as well. Gotta keep ahead of it, but good to know you have Gin...hubby likes Gin and I tend to more of Vodka gal. Swing by for a visit. Stay well.

    1. Hi Sandy. Thank you for popping over to take a look. I blog most days about nothing much at all, but it gives me something to do. 😁
I shall take a look at you too!
      Stay safe x

  6. Our son bought us one of those fancy pod coffee makers but like you we didn't like it. I gave it to my daughter preferring the percolater.

    1. It just doesn't taste right to me. And think of all those plastic pods to be disposed of!
