I was checking my Facebook messages from my family when I noticed that he had shared a post sent to him on his Facebook account.
It appeared to be from Tesco offering a free £50 voucher by clicking on a link to a website page to make your claim. An obvious scam. I asked him if he had clicked on it. He said he had.
I am now running a full virus scan on the laptop and hoping he hasn't caused any lasting damage.
Grrrr....
This is what I do not like about the internet and I can understand how annoyed you are.
ReplyDeleteNever click on anything you are not totally sure of.

I keep trying to tell him but he never seems to rscognise the obvious warning signs. Such an IT innocent! 🙄
DeleteIt must be men. Tom is always showing me things on face book and I have to tell him that it is probably a scam or the photo has been got at, he is so gullible. lol
DeleteIt's so easy to do but really ... Tesco voucher!
ReplyDeleteI know.
DeleteThe down side of IT.
ReplyDeleteBloody men! So gullible...
ReplyDeleteThat is a sexist thing to say. Also untrue.
DeleteBut I'm afraid it is true YP
DeleteThat is also sexist Briony.
DeleteAhem...stones and glass houses?
DeleteHere's hoping there's no lasting damage-!
ReplyDeleteIt is not the first time. I am going to buy myself a new laptop and not allow him anywhere near it!
DeleteYou have to admire Lord Peregrine's trusting nature. Hopefully, he will learn from this episode. It is so sad that we have to be very suspicious of any messages from unknown sources.
ReplyDeleteIt is exhausting having to be so vigilant all the time.
DeleteYou think this is exhausting! Just wait until he's incontinent and goes gaga on you.
DeleteDon't do Facebook. I don't.
ReplyDeleteIt has its uses, if used carefully. Not for the gullible though.
DeleteThose bloomin' scammers. I can understand now why you want your own laptop for peace of mind.
ReplyDeleteHugs, x.
