Slow Work

Yet another lazy day.  After yesterday's early start I had a lie-in this morning until 9:00 a.m.

From the breakfast table we watched the truck arrive at the top of the drive and the two workmen get out to take a look at the hole they dug yesterday.   Not sure what they did but they were gone again around 10:00.

P went to see his father's partner, now well into her 90s and quite frail, while I lazed around at home.

This afternoon turned very warm and sunny and I dozed out in the garden for a while.

I have an appointment with the GP next week to discuss the results of yesterday's blood tests.  That's if I can stay awake long enough!

  1. "Lazy sunny afternoon" by The Kinks comes to mind JayCee.

Had you been drinking Sangria in the garden when you dozed off and had your siesta? It's nice on the Irish Riviera this afternoon.

  2. BOB That's a fine hole we have dug there.
JASON It is a good un. But is it round enough Bob?
BOB I shall need to phone The Clerk of Works about that.
    (Pause)
BOB He says the diameter is two centimetres wider than it should have been?
JASON So what will we do now?
BOB Fill it in of course. We can have another go tomorrow.
JASON Oh bloody hell Lord Snooty's back!
    (Car screeches to a halt)
LORD PEREGRINE I say you fellows. Haven't you finished that job yet?
BOB No sir your excellency sir. We're coming back tomorrow.
LORD PEREGRINE What the hell are you doing now?
JASON (shovelling) We are reholing sir.
LORD PEREGRINE Why? Why are you filling it in?
    JASON Regulations sir. Regulations.
(Lord Peregrine screeches up the driveway to Peregrine Castle)

  3. You'll definitely need a siesta after sangria.

    There was a little hole
In the middle of the road
Every day they looked at it
    And finally dug a pit
    And when it rained
    The hole was full
    And lo, you finally got
    A swimming pool

Best of British luck to you and P and the hole!

    1. Aha! Perhaps they are only digging the hole to divert the rainwater into it instead of it running down our drive! Genius !!!

  4. Warm? So that's where the sun has gone. Here it has been cloudy all day and I have just switched on the central heating.
