Like Northsider, I thought we were in for a great summer. All the flowers and vegetables were romping away and I thought we were going to get tomatoes in July for once. They still haven't ripened.
I came to the conclusion a couple of years ago that they are no quicker in the greenhouse than they are outside against a warm wall where you don't have to water them as much.
Northsider and Dick Dunham got there before me with regard to Neil Young. I saw him a few years back at The Echo Arena in Liverpool but he wasn't doing a rain dance.
Yep, the west of Scotland is the same. Totally pouring down today and by the looks of it its on for the day and most of tomorrow too! It's very depressing and will be a long winter if we don't get some let up for a while :( x
It took me a while to find the answer but, in fact, we had below average rainfall here in July. That surprised me. I bet it was a lot windier than average though.
Just think how green and lush everything will look .... must always find the positives .... I’m a glass half full, positively brimming over kind a gal ! Sorry to tell you this but we are in for a heatwave this week ! XXXX

If it makes you feel any better, we got 153mm of rain from 11 pm Monday night until 10 am Tuesday morning. Courtesy of the tropical storm in the US. The fact that earlier Monday afternoon, before the storm hit, we already had 50 mm of rain made it a bit of a disaster. Drying out a bit today, but another 25mm of rain due tomorrow. Sigh. Weather is a bit of a hazard these days--no matter where you live. Hope Guernsey has fair weather when you visit.

I didn't know Neil Young worked for the Met Office? May was the driest in 150 years in Ireland. It made up for it since. It's raining here today.

ReplyDeleteWe are growing our tomatoes in pots inside the greenhouse. They have started to ripen this week so they must have had some sun anyway.
