All's Well

I am just back from a hospital appointment this afternoon where I had a series of lung function tests to try to discover why I have been experiencing breathing difficulties over the past several months.

The good news is that I do not have asthma nor any other serious problem.  It seems that my constant hay-fever type allergies (I suffer all year long not just in the summer) has led to a build up of fluid in the smaller airways and that is what is causing my symptoms.

That's OK then. I can breathe a little easier now (see what I did there?).

  1. Good to read JayCee. You can get back to normal and go walking again.

    1. Thanks Dave. The trouble is that going outside triggers the allergies, so makes it worse! Perhaps I shall have to start wearing a mask when I go walking

    1. Thanks Beacee. Perhaps I should move to somewhere with a warm, dry climate? Sounds good to me anyway 😉

  3. I understand that there's a bug going around just now. I wonder if that is what you have got. I can't remember what it is called but I think it begins with a "c". One or two people have become quite ill with it but if you sing Happy Birthday while washing your hands you should be okay JayCee.

    1. Thanks for the tip YP. I hadn't heard about it.

  4. I hear Arizona is very hot and dry but you may succumb to the "c" bug that YP mentioned if you go there!

  5. Your post reassures me as I have felt like I have had the beginnings of a cold for 4 months! Maybe I have allergies too! Tickle cough, runny nose, and some sneezing - every single day whether I am inside or outside. But could be worse as YP points out. Feel better!

    1. Could be an allergy. I have very similar symptoms, but usually very violent sneezing!
In the Spring it is the tree pollen, followed by grass pollen in Summer, then in Autumn it is fungal spores - particularly if the weather is damp. Winter then produces more reactions to the pesky little house dust mite. A year-round pleasure!

  6. Hugs. I hope they can help you with the fluid. Glad it is figured out. It must have been a niggling worry. Would be for me anyways. Love your blog and read it daily though I don't comment often.

    1. Thank you Marjorie for your kind words about my blog.
I am hoping that my GP can offer a solution to the blocked airways, but I do feel relived that it is nothing serious.

  7. Nice to know what the problem is but what's the cure? (Or management) It might have been helpful to find out exactly what it is you are reacting to in order to be able to change something. Maybe cold crisp air in winter....

    1. Thanks Tigger. I have suffered from allergies since early childhood (see my reply to Ellen, above) but they seem worse the past year or so, possibly due to the ongoing changes to our climate with more extremes of weather?
I am awaiting an appointment to see my GP who may be able to offer a solution.
P suggests using the services of a gulley sucker. Very helpful.

  8. We’re you offered any treatment or suggestions for supplementary help.
I suppose you’ve been through it all but what about reactions to certain foods.
Anyway take care JayCee. Keep us posted

    1. Thanks Cathy.
The Clinical Physiologist who did the tests was only able to tell me what he found so I have to wait now to see my GP for more answers.
I shall keep you posted x
