The Weekend Is Cancelled

 I am not going anywhere!!!

Becoming very windy,  giving gusts of 45-50 mph quite widely across the island. Top temperature 13°C.   The gale force south-southwesterly wind will ease slightly early tonight, however significant overtopping of sea water and debris is expected around high tide (~10:40pm), with some minor inner harbour flooding also possible in Douglas & Ramsey. Minimum temperature 9°C.

Outlook

Rain will continue to affect the island tomorrow, becoming persistent and heavy at times and accompanied by a strong to near gale force south-westerly wind. Highest temperature around 10 or 11°C, but feeling colder in the wind.

  2. "Overtopping"? Sounds like too much milk in your mug of tea. I hope that you and his revered lordship have got an inflatable raft - just in case.

    2. Hey, if he has got shed why can't you have one too? He hasn't got a leg to stand on. In this age of equality, women are entitled to their own sheds (i.e. summerhouses) in which they can do exactly as they please.

  3. Snap. Who would live next to the sea? We do😀. I watched A Place In The Sun this morning. It was in the Algarve. I wouldn't mind living next to the sea there.

    1. We have the fire lit, a beef stew in the slow cooker and a bottle of fizz in the 'fridge.

  5. Tell me about it! It's freezing here, although not as wet as forecast - not that it makes much difference. As I type though a huge black cloud has drifted into my eyeline and I feel the rain may not be far away and I've still the dog to walk. Should I go right now and hope I can beat it or wait and see, that is the question!! x

  6. I agree with others - overtopping seems a strange word to use. On the other hand, it pictures it perfectly in the mind's eye.

  9. We seem to have had high pressure for more than two weeks now. The water is so pressed down about 8-10 inches)that the top 4 or 5 inches of the now permanently exposed seaweed has dried out and bleached white. Perhaps all that water has squashed out in your direction.

    1. We have had so much rain this weekend that our lawn is now a small lake. We may have to buy a small dinghy to reach the woodpile.
