Sixty years ago. The hairstyle is still the same.
We had to get up early this morning as P has arranged to meet a friend for an early run over the hills.
There were two birthday cards on the kitchen table, one from my sister and one from P. His was a "sort of" funny one about a husband standing at a bar with a mate joking about his wife buying clothes. I had quite hoped that there may have been a birthday present, but no such luck.
It doesn't feel like a special kind of day at all.
I must stop feeling sorry for myself.
We have six friends coming over for supper this evening so that will cheer me up.
This will be me later on in the kitchen, preparing supper...
Happy Birthday JayCee. For a special treat you can watch Shirley Valentine on Channel 5 this afternoon. Hope you have a great day and supper.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. I can always rely on you to cheer me up!
DeleteWell if I could send you a huge Birthday Cake then I would. Instead I'm afraid that it will just be very heartfelt good wishes for your Birthday but, more importantly, may you stay safe and be well.
ReplyDeleteAh, thank you Graham. You are a true gentleman.
DeleteCutie. You can pretend you're driving the jet ski --- sorry, boat.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.. that romantic devil apparently has a wife and small children back home and is reported to be facing rape charges there too.
DeleteHappy Birthday. You're a spring chicken compared to me. Covid birthdays are not the same, are they, but enjoy it as best as you can.
ReplyDeleteI am already enjoying preparing all the food for this evening. Who needs presents when you can share food and conversation with good friends?
DeleteHappy birthday JC. Hope you have many more of them.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping!
DeleteHappy Birthday JC and hope you have a wonderful day and evening. x
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel x
DeleteI started off a little downhearted but I have cheered up now. Preparing and cooking something special for supper has worked wonders for my mood.
Happy birthday JC.Hope you are feeling a bit brighter.Perhaps OH will surprise you later with a great present.Shouldn’t your friends be cooking for you on your birthday?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy their company. We are in Tier 4 so can’t even go out in the car.
Barbarax
Thank you Barbara. Yes, I am feeling very cheerful now, but no hope of a present I'm afraid!
DeleteWe realise that we are very lucky here that we can still carry on with life more or less as normal by keeping our borders closed. Good for our safety, but hot so good for our economy.
Happy Birthday, JayCee! Best wishes for a happy, healthy year filled with many fun adventures! Buy your own present so you are sure to get what you want! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen. That sounds like a good idea 😉
DeleteHappy Birthday JayCee. I was going to say the same as Ellen above, if I was you I'd buy myself a gift. Get it gift wrapped and enjoy opening it. Have a lovely dinner tonight. Take care. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks MG. You take care too x
DeleteOh, happy birthday! I'm sorry it doesn't feel like a special day, though. No presents? Oh my. Some men are not good at presents. I'm married to one. His idea of Christmas is to take me to a store and tell me to pick out whatever I want. We've discussed this. After 23 years, I doubt that it will change. He's a good man in other respects, but just at a loss at gift giving time.
ReplyDeleteYep. Mine is like that too. He does not understand why he needs to buy a present, let alone how to think of something anyone may like to receive as a gift. It must be a man thing!
DeleteHappy birthday JayCee - enjoy your evening.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I had a wonderful evening with our friends.
DeleteHappy Birthday, JC!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about it just being another day. Had my 70th three weeks ago and it was a non-event. Had hoped to take a special trip in honor of entering my eighth decade, but, oh well. Hope dinner with your friends makes your day a better one.
Belated happy birthday wishes for your 70th. Have a big party on your 80th instead!
DeleteBTW - I always buy my own presents. That way I always get what I want. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteBy the time I’m reading this, your birthday celebration with your friends is probably over. I hope it was lovely and I hope you have a good year ahead. Great picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob. I did have a lovely evening.
DeleteI have changed a bit since that photo was taken!
Best birthday wishes, JayCee. Hope you had a lovely evening with your hubby and friends.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris.
DeleteIt was my wife's birthday on the 29th. A few days ago she told me that her watch had died, so I bought a new one as her present. When I gave it to her she said the old one had started working again. You can't win!!
ReplyDeleteYour good lady is fortunate to have a husband who is thoughtful and kind.
DeleteOh JC, very many happy returns of the day .... I’m sure you had a lovely time with your friends. It’s my big 70 th on February 1st but will obviously be a very quiet affair ..... hopefully we can make up for it in the Summer. XXXX
ReplyDeleteYes you should have a big summer party to celebrate xxx
DeleteBelated birthday greetings JayCee! I hope that the supper went well. I guess that Lord Peregrine had delayed the presentation of his special birthday gift until halfway through the supper - perhaps a rhinestone studded jewellery box containing a little ballerina who pirouettes as the music plays - "Come Prima".
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes YP. Although nothing came my way from P, my friends gave me some lovely gifts and we all enjoyed a very convivial evening.
DeleteYou look so cute! Happy birthday, JayCee. What, no present? I hope one was forthcoming later in the day...
