Now, Where Was I?

It's Tuesday again. Where did the weekend go?  What happened to all those days since last Tuesday?  What planet am I on?

As you can tell, I am feeling a little discombobulated at the moment.

The house sale is inching along. A reasonable offer accepted and the surveyor due next week to take a look for the purchasers. Still no new home in sight for us yet, so we may need to rent for a while if it all goes through smoothly.

The local charity shops, Samaritans collection bin and the recycling centre have all been blessed with our donations this week. Still more storage cupboards to sort out, but we are progressing.

I went for my usual Sunday morning walk with the girls, despite the freezing temperature and icy roads and fields.  It was too cold for my numb fingers to take any decent photos. We then had supper with friends that evening, a chance to all get together before they go across to spend Christmas with their daughter in the UK.

Monday morning saw me with a head cold. Lots of sneezing, sniffling and coughing. It seems to be receding now but I hope my friends have escaped infection.

This morning I braved the squally rain and battled my way through the gale force wind to collect my prescription from the pharmacy. I couldn't leave it another day as I was down to my last Thyroxin pill.

Back home to poached egg on toast for lunch and my feet up by the fire.

Wake me up in time for next Tuesday.

    1. A hot toddy sounds good to me right now.
We are looking for a bungalow, but not much available right now. May need to compromise and have to contend with stairs.

    2. We once lived in a flat and now we live in a bungalow. I like living on one level. Property and the cost of living looks more expensive on the Isle of Man.

    3. It is quite expensive compared to the north west of England, just across the water. We have to import a lot of goods so the freight charges make a big difference. Our pension is not any higher though!

    2. I used to love moving. We moved every 2 or 3 years when k was in the navy and kids were younger. I chucked so much stuff , no boxes in attics for us with stuff we never used. Now we have accumulated truck loads of junk. It's Amazing how much you gather.
Stay by the fire a while get some rest!

  4. I had no idea what thyroxin was so I have just been reading up about it. Plenty of possible side effects. I hope you are dodging them most of the time JayCee. If I might be so bold, why did you have to start taking it?

    1. The thyroxine is to counteract a thyroid hormone deficiency. Too little causes the metabolism to slow down resulting in constant fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, amongst other unfortunate symptoms. It was diagnosed after a routine health check when I had been experiencing those symptoms. Without treatment, certain organs can become seriously affected. It is a fairly common health issue I have been told.

  5. A scary time to catch bugs. It's a relief when they turn out to be no more than a cold (sneezes and sniffles).

    1. I was reasonably confident it was only a common cold as we have no known Covid cases out in the community at the moment.
A cold is bad enough for me! Such a wimp.

  6. Moving is always a good point to declutter and concentrate the mind. I did it when I moved here a few years ago. Makes moving easier too and beginning again. xx

    1. We have been in this house for 28 years now so have gradually amassed a lot of clutter, most of which has not been used for a long time. Time to let go.

  7. One year longer than I've been in my current home. DV I shall be here for a good while yet. Somewhere along the way I missed why you were moving.

    1. Although we love the house and the views it just seems like the right time to move somewhere closer to the town's amenities and with a smaller garden to look after. Chopping wood each winter and keeping the one acre of garden under control is just starting to become too much of a chore for P now, even though he is fit and well for the time being. Do it now, while we still can!

  8. I am able to stay in my home because my oldest son lives with me and helps with the house (mowing, shoveling, etc.) I don't know what I will do with all of the crap I have whenever it is time to downsize. Yikes!

  9. I was forced out into the cold and fog yesterday, as I needed to saw wood. 10 mins with the chainsaw, and instantly I felt much better; activity is good for the soul.

    1. I think I would have preferred cold and fog to gale force wind and rain. At least I had some exercise walking up the hill against the wind.
