As neither of us like fruit cake of any description (nor mince pies or Christmas pudding) we have indulged this year in a Marks and Spencer triple chocolate panettone for our Christmas treat.
We have just tried our first slice along with a mug of hot chocolate.
Do you think that may have been too much chocolate?
Boris Johnson should win the 'Fruit Cake' of the year award for 2020. Wish we could afford to shop in Marks and Sparks. Lidl and Iceland are our favourite supermarkets.
ReplyDeleteIt was the only thing we bought there Dave. Just a special treat for Christmas. Although we did see plenty of people with full trollies of food that must have cost quite a bit!
DeleteWe went in M & S in Killarney and they wanted fourteen Euros for a 🍕 pizza. We quickly walked out again.
DeleteDarn, now I see a photo of that triple treat. I had another look in our supermarket today. Only the raisin one.
ReplyDeleteLooks darn good. A girl can never have too much chocolate
I agree Linda
DeleteI am of the school one can never have too much good chocolate. Mincemeat is not available here so this mincemeat addict has to make her own for the first time ever.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your mincemeat. If all else fails, eat chocolate!
DeleteMarjorie is right. You can't have too much chocolate (unless it is that famous British brand that was taken over by a foreign company and now tries to pass off grease as the original product - any amount of that is too much chocolate).
ReplyDeleteOh yeuck, yes. Horrible stuff.
DeleteThe sort answer to your question is YES
ReplyDeleteSorry - the second word should read short.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did feel rather queasy after all that chocolate.
DeleteJayCee - you need to build up your capacity bit by bit (mug by mug, cake by cake).
DeleteAlka Seltzer by Alka Seltzer ...
DeleteThat panettone looks splendid JayCee and the photograph of it seems so professional in spite of the crumbs that Lord Peregrine created as he wolfed down his huge slice.
ReplyDeleteYes, the photograph is so uncannily like the one on the M&S website isn't it? Much neater than mine in real life after I had hacked off two big slices.
DeleteThere's not such a thing as too much chocolate. 😂
ReplyDeleteToo true!
DeleteCan never have too much chocolate. We just had French toast made with fruit panettone, eggs and eggnog instead of milk. I cooked them in the waffle maker. It was so good. Merry Christmas from Alberta, Canada where we had 2 feet of snow yesterday. You can imagine how everybody spent their time today-shovelling!!!
ReplyDeleteYou will need that delicious breakfast to give you energy for all that shovelling. Merry Christmas Janice.
DeleteHappy Christmas JajCee.
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Christmas to you too Yael. May it be peaceful and above all, safe x
DeleteI am totally the opposite. I don't like Panettone at all, but love Christmas cake, mince pies, and even Christmas pud'.
ReplyDeleteWell, all the more for the both of us 😋
DeleteMy masseuse had a Pannetone on my last visit a week ago. I never had one before and ended up having two slices. It wasn't chocolate though. It was still delicious. Happy Christmas Jaycee.
ReplyDeleteI have seen various versions of pannetone but this was the only one I could find without dried fruit, which i cannot abide.
DeleteHappy Christmas to you Rachel x
We also have *that* panettone- and indulged by also buying the woodland yule log from the same shop. Neither has been opened yet - but I think the panettone may get tried after dinner tonight with a hot chocolate with Baileys in :)
ReplyDeleteOooh.....
DeletePanettone? I’ve never heard of such but it only takes one look at the picture for me to know I’m
ReplyDeletein! (I’m learning so much reading your blog!)
I think I made a mistake with the spelling, so you may be learning lots of wrong things from my blog!
DeleteNeeds must when fruit cake avoidance is required. Enjoy your day. Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteNo, you can never have too much chocolate!
