We have finally been "blessed" with some of the stuff that has been falling all over the UK recently.
Not a lot, but just enough for the gale force winds to cause drifts and close some roads.
Very pretty, but hoping it disappears tomorrow, as forecast.
I prefer the 'Black stuff' brewed at St James's Gate in Dublin😊⛸⛷🛷🥌.
ReplyDeleteYou would!
DeleteHello JC,
ReplyDeleteA light dusting of snow really shows the 'bones' of a garden and yours look great. This is such a delightful image when viewed from afar in a warm room and for that we are grateful.
We can only wonder what your plans will be when the garden springs to life. Such fun to imagine!
Thank you. Yes, we shall miss our garden when we move although its maintenance is part of the reason for us moving into town. Hopefully a new owner will be able to appreciate it as it springs back into life!
DeleteGarden maintenance is often overlooked. It really does take up a lot of time and energy. You are wise to move before the delight in your garden becomes a burden to be endured.
DeleteHave you been chucking snowballs at Lord Peregrine? I hope you did not make him cry. Getting thwacked in the face with a snowball thrown as if from a baseball pitcher tends to hurt like hell.
ReplyDeleteOoh, now there's an idea....
DeleteHere in US, we had another light dusting of snow Thursday...which I much prefer to the freezing rain falling today. Under an ice warning meaning we could lose power and have trees fall. In our case (in the country), losing power means no water, no flushing, etc.. Luckily we have a wood stove, so heating would still be available. I've filled up multiple water containers, so if needs must, I can still boil water on top of the wood stove for a cuppa. First things first. :)
ReplyDeleteBrrrr... we get off quite lightly here compared to lots of places. Being surrounded by the Irish Sea helps keep us reasonably protected. Hope your big freeze doesn't last too long
DeleteWe will get several more inches every couple of days if the weather forecast is correct here in Illinois. We already have giant piles of snow everywhere so we really do not need more. Oh well, there is nowhere that I need to go. The "prettiness" of snow is wearing off, tho! :)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine it would become extremely inconvenient when it drags on for so long. There will be plenty of water once the thaw sets in!
DeleteYou made us jealous and now our snow is on the way too. Late tomorrow they say but it feels cold enough now. I lit the fire before midday. Now the house is so warm I'm having trouble keeping my eyelids open. A glass of wine and I'll be gone. I wonder if we'll wake up tomorrow to a . brief, winter wonderland.
ReplyDeleteHave that glass of wine!
DeleteOur winter wonderland is due to change into dirty slush tomorrow.
After a few days it ceases to be pretty and becomes a downright nuisance
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that's why we really hope it is gone tomorrow. I have to attend Court for jury service next week so do not want to battle through the snow to get there.
DeleteIt certainly emphasises the size of your garden.
ReplyDeleteLots of work.
DeleteI live in the southern US and a “snow event” is being predicted for us which means the TV weather folks are giddy; people are flocking to the grocery stores as if the apocalypse is upon us and there will be famine and drought; and when it’s all said and done it’s HIGHLY likely it will go in a different direction and it will amount to nothing. Is snow very common in your area?
ReplyDeleteWe get snow very rarely as our climate is relatively mild, being a small island in the middle of the Irish Sea.
DeleteThe last "big" snow was in 2013 when the west coast was cut off for more than a week and we lost our electricity for 2 days. That was fun!
The winds can be fierce here. Usually much worse than the snow event here on our island. We have a house generator, thankfully. ❤️
ReplyDeleteSounds like you need it!
DeleteThat makes me feel cold, just looking at it. Warming up here next week. Hooray!
ReplyDeleteWe are set for a thaw today. More standing water, just what we need!
DeleteHere in London we still have some which has been lying around all week and with a very icy layer in top. I shall end up like Jayne Torvill if this continues.....
ReplyDeleteIt us unusual for London to have such a prolonged spell of snow. Good luck with the figure skating ⛸
DeleteI do love the snow though ..... it makes everywhere look so pretty even if it isn’t !!!! So cold though .... even part of the Thames froze over. It’s starting to warm up now though. XXXX
ReplyDeleteYes, it is pretty for a while but then we want it to go away!! xxx
DeleteIt is snowing right now. We've another winter storm headed our way. Whatever charm I found in the white stuff is long done and dusted.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I hope it doesn't last too long.
DeleteWe have heavy rain to look forward to now. Bliss.
We've had about 4inches of snow lying all week and for the first two days it was wonderful. All crisp and crunchy! Then once they start to grit the pavements it gets all horrible and hurts the dogs paws and it becomes a nuisance then. It's almost all gone today though we've had a massive thaw and its now pouring with rain :( Your garden looks huge! I now see why you want to move! x
ReplyDeleteWe now have pouring rain too, but it has washed away all the snow.
DeleteThe forecast is for much milder weather hext week, thank goodness.
Hope it's gone now! Ours has and we didn't get drifts - thank goodness. I've never seen so many icy puddles though' especially out in the fields where they looked like mini lakes.
ReplyDeletexxx
Ours has all washed away now but the ground is still sodden
