Today (Monday) the island's third lockdown has been lifted so we can now all get back to normal again. So far, around 50,000 of our 86,000 population have had at least their first vaccination and we are hopefully on track to be completed by the autumn for the whole adult population.
Our borders, however, remain closed to visitors which should lessen the risk of the newer variants entering the island until we are ready for them.
The house move is also "on the move" again with an offer accepted and the Advocates (solicitors) duly instructed. If all goes smoothly we hope to be in our new home in mid June.
Onwards and upwards.... (oops, sorry Rachel, just noticed that I seem to have pinched your blog post title!)
Sounds like it's good news all round JayCee. P will be able to treat you to a slap up meal and a nice bottle of wine or two?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an excellent idea Dave. I amsurd he will be delighted 😀
DeleteOops..typo..I am sure...stupid keyboard!
DeleteMy fingers are crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat. Third time lucky all round hopefully.
DeleteYeh, doing a happy dance!!
ReplyDeleteAnd hair cuts all round, like Rachel???
There is a bit of a waiting list here for haircuts. At the moment I look a little bit like any one of the Beatles in their heyday!
DeleteOnwards and upwards just about sums things up at the moment, thinking positive about everything. xx
ReplyDeleteIt all seems more positive now, at last xx
DeleteHooray to getting back to normal - slowly does it, but I so pray we don't relapse.
ReplyDeleteOur government say we are now moving to mitigation rather than elimination. Basically, we are all fairly likely to catch it but, hopefully, the vaccines mean fewer of us will die from it!
DeleteAdvocates? Are they higher or lower than solicitors?
ReplyDeleteSame thing, different name.
DeleteFingers crossed everything goes smoothly with your move. Time to break out the bubbly!
ReplyDeleteAny excuse is fine by me!
DeleteOh good luck with the house sale.
ReplyDeleteI shall only be able to relax once the contracts are signed.
DeleteThat's good news all round; just keep those pesky foreigners out.
ReplyDeleteYes. We don't want the Brazil or India variants to arrive here until the vaccines have been tweaked... and delivered.
DeleteHow amazing that 50,000 islanders have had their first vaccine. Percentage-wise that's a better rate than the mainland. Fingers crossed for the house move. I thought that Advocate was a kind of egg nog.
ReplyDeleteYes, after a slow start the vaccination programme has now galloped ahead. The over 20s are now being invited to book their appointments. Unless supplies dry up we should all have had our second jabs in a month or two.
DeletePS: if you ever visit here it is probably best not to refer to the UK as the "mainland" but the "adjacent isle" instead.
Good reports. I'll be glad when all restrictions are lifted so I can plan my visit!
ReplyDeleteMasks optional!
DeleteNice to have some good news. Fingers and toes crossed on the house journey.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary.
DeleteSo glad to hear the house news! Hope it all goes smoothly - finally!
ReplyDeleteI am still holding my breath!
DeleteThat all sounds lovely and positive. I hope it all goes smoothly with the house move. Fingers crossed x
ReplyDeleteGood luck and fingers crossed the move takes off!
