Another Day, Another Walking Route

We have been having fun searching out new places to walk since we moved here.  I expect the novelty will wear off eventually but the recent spell of fine weather makes it very tempting to put on our walking shoes and head out.

This morning, Friday, P took me off on a walk that he had tried out a few days ago on one of his training runs.

It started off in woodland then opened out into an expanse of meadow that ran alongside the Golf course  eventually coming out onto a lane that led down to the river.

After a detour to look at the location of a house on the market  we walked back home along the prom.

Two hours of walking. That should have used up some of the calories from last night's steak.

  1. It's great to have a choice of good walking routes. We've got quite a few in different directions from our door, do them over and over again, and never tire of them, walking and talking. They're particularly lovely on these summer evening.

    1. I agree. We have got into the habit now of walking down to the seafront after supper each evening to enjoy the fading summer sun.

    2. Nothing wrong with that. Someone wrote a post last year called "in praise of boring walking" meaning he did the same route every day but it was always different.

  2. Walking and using calories to take off the weight from a good meal - ah if only life worked like that.

  3. It's always stimulating to walk somewhere new. I see there was a duck going for a walk too. Did you greet her with a cheery, "Ey up duck!"?

  4. Moving to a different part of the island has certainly given you new walking venues to enjoy. Lovely blue skies against all that greenery.

    1. Yes, it is strange that moving from a rural location into a town has actually made it easier for walking. More footpaths here so safer to reach the gkens and plantations for walks.

  5. One thing we both miss is walking. We used to love to walk but both of us are now crocked up and can only just about get around the supermarket.
We do drive to places still but nothing beats a lovely walk.
Glad you enjoyed it and are happy in your new abode.

    1. Thanks Briony. I am not sure if I am going to be quite so enthusiastic when the cold, wet and windy weather arrives in a month or so!

  6. Is the house you checked out a possibility for you? Your walks sound so nice! Glad you are enjoying your new place.

    1. No, the house was overpriced for its size and just too far out to be a comfortable walk to buy a pint of milk. Something will turn up.

  7. Must be nice to explore new walks. I'm getting used to doing the same route every day. But I use the time to listen to YouTube and hardly notice the surrounds now.

    1. I was limited in walking routes before as it was too dangerous to negotiate the roads from our old house without any footpaths. Hopefully I am in less danger of being knocked down by a speeding motorist here.

  8. It’s rather exciting to change your life a bit … new discoveries etc. You just need the house to go with it and all will be well. XXXx
