Sunday morning. Another warm but grey, overcast morning.
We decided to walk to the Milntown Estate on the other side of town as they were hosting the Classic Car Club Gathering in their grounds.
It was a pleasant half hour stroll and we arrived quite early as not all the cars had arrived. At least it was fairly quiet and we felt safe wandering around before the crowds turned up.
There were some interesting vehicles there and we spent some time just mooching around before walking back home the long way via the seafront.
We passed this catering van along the way as the stages were being set up for the Ramsey Rocks festival.
"Gourmet" chips, cheese and gravy anyone?
Baps only £3.50! A plastic surgeon would charge far more than that. Sounds like Ramsey is the gift that keeps on giving!
ReplyDeleteSinking to the depths again, YP 🙄
DeleteF told me they called those cars Vintage when she was a kid, so they must be ever so old now! How many hundred years to you reckon? xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteOh, several I should think 😁
DeleteI hope the Breakfast Banger isn't referring to one of those beautiful cars from way back when?😊
ReplyDeleteCould be, Dave 😉
DeleteI've been in cars like that when they were new.
ReplyDeleteWhat, those first four?
DeleteMorris Oxford just visible in picture 1.
DeleteThe vintage cars remind me of a 1927 RR Phantom immaculately maintained by the very nice elderly 'Lady of the Manor' in our village--manservant and all. Whenever it was serviced at the petrol station (near my home), the fellow would give a few of us children rides around the village. Didn't we feel la-de-da as we sat primly in the seats doing the royal wave to passers-by. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, lucky you. That must have been great fun x
DeleteAll kids should have the opportunity to feel la-de-da every now and again! I love that little story, Mary!
DeleteThose are lovely old cars. Well worth a walk-around. And no rain!
ReplyDeleteThey were indeed lovely. There are a surprising number of classic and vintage cars here for such a small island.
DeleteChips and gravy is a combination I have never tried.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't bother, Weaver!
DeleteIn the early 1970s my friend had a Wolseley as in the last picture, two tone, went like a rocket once she got it rolling.
ReplyDeleteSome of those were great cars back in their day. They looked good too.
DeleteChips, cheese (here it's curds), and gravy is very like Quebec poutine, not something I'm partial to!
ReplyDeleteHere grated cheddar cheese is heaped on top of the chips then thick brown gravy poured all over it. Not my thing!
DeleteI once owned a lovely blue 2CV.... I'd love to own another one.
ReplyDeletePerhaps your original is still out there somewhere?
DeleteI love seeing those old vehicles. They have such character and class!
ReplyDeleteAll modern cars look the same to me.
DeleteWhat lovely cars. Not too keen on chips with gravy - I much prefer them dry with a twist of salt.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Addy.
DeleteThe cars look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThey were. I wish I had taken photos of more of them.
DeleteI rather like the Vauxhall. However I love almost all old cars.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is an elegance about them that draws the eye.
DeleteWhat nice cars! And what a nice day to go 'gawping at them'.
ReplyDeleteYep. And the sun came out that afternoon too.
