As with our friends across the water in the UK, we enjoyed a weekend of wall-to-wall hot sunshine.
After a brief foray on Saturday morning to buy the newspaper and milk etc we returned home to close the blinds against the heat and gently simmer . I had hung out a load of washing earlier and it was almost done to a crisp in the blazing sun.
On Sunday morning we decided to go for our walk early, before it got too hot. We walked along the south beach to the harbour then crossed the swing bridge towards the park.
When we reached the park we discovered there was a triathlon event going on, so several runners and cyclists were whizzing around. I think the swimming event had already finished. We had a coffee by the lake then walked back along the harbour, stopping briefly for a chat with the geese.
The hot weather is forecast to be with us all week, peaking on Thursday. I am stocking the freezer with ice creams, or Eskimo pies as P calls them.
