Sunday's Slog

Sunday morning was a fine one; dry with some low cloud but the promise of warm sunshine later.

P had been keen to show me a different route to try out for the Sunday Girls' walking group so we drove the five minutes to park at the tiny Port Lewaigue beach car park to start our walk at 9:30 a.m.

The walk was up and down several hilly stretches (thanks P) and when the sun had burned off the cloud I felt quite hot and bothered.  The views were pretty good though.

The hedgerows are starting to prepare for autumn. We know where to come if we want to pick blackberries.

It is good of the Manx Electric Railway to provide luxury seating at the Dreemskerry Halt.

YP... I tried to find a pretty one for you....

Two hours and 4.5 miles. I had a little siesta after lunch.

  1. Looks like a nice track. Even the ups and downs can be enjoyable if taken at the right pace (and advantage is taken of luxury seating where provided). We envy you the blackberries ...mmmm blackberry and apple shortcake.

  4. Good that the treks up and down hills were rewarded with lovely views and your very own chair to rest upon. Strange to see signs of autumn when we're still in the midst of so much heat and humidity. Have to think of cool thoughts because there certainly haven't been any around here for a very long time.

    1. We tend to have short summers up here but I quite like autumn so I don't mind so much. It's all those long drawn out winters I don't look forward to.

  5. That is a lovely hike! It will be even better when the weather is cooler. I guess there aren't many people waiting for the train in Dreemskerry?!

  6. Well if you both wanted a rest at that Halt you would have to sit on P's knee (or start a charity fund to buy another chair).

  7. I like the one looking into the camera. I believe she is called Nelly. I previously spotted her on Match.com.

    1. I thought she looked a little sheepish. Probably didn't want to get fleeced.

  10. Quite a hike - you certainly deserved a nap. I'm a great believer in siestas.
