P was meeting a friend for a long run over the fells so I went out for a wander around town. I enjoy being so close to the beach and being able to walk along the Prom looking out to sea.
This morning I walked along to the harbour, over the bridge then along the riverside to the park. The coffee shop had only just opened and I was their first customer of the day so was served very promptly.
I had a flat white with a couple of almond biscotti for dunking before a crowd of yummy mummies arrived with their very excited pre school offspring. Time for me to beat a hasty retreat before my hearing aids exploded.
Continuing my walk around the lake it was apparent that most of the summer flowers were well and truly finished. Just a couple hanging on still ...
I am sure northsider Dave can tell me what these are.
On the way back I saw this beauty parked in the square. It was attracting a lot of attention from a couple of gents but I managed to grab a shot without them in it...
There is rain forecast for this evening and a few more wet days to come so I may be stuck inside for a while. I have plenty of library books to keep me quiet.
That sounds like a fun morning! Wow, that car sure is fancy!
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice day here today so I will get out for a hike but I have to drive to a park for my walk - can't just wander there from my home like you. You are lucky, JayCee!
Thanks Ellen. I haven't driven the car for so long now I am not sure I can remember how!
DeleteIt would be super to wander along the prom annd call in for a coffee. I think those flowers are both dahlias.
ReplyDeleteAh thanks Weaver. They are certainly very striking.
DeleteOK I'll bite . . . . what kind of vehicle is that?
ReplyDeleteSorry Bob, I have no idea! I just thought it was rather lovely but didn't go for a closer look as there were two gents giving it a good examination. I should have asked them what model it was.
DeleteI agree with The Weaver of Grass that they are Dahlias. Very nice one's at that. What's the symbol in your coffee cup JayCee?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave for the Dahlia confirmation. There were only one or two still hanging on, but very striking. The orange one has very dark brown leaves.
DeleteThe symbol on top of the coffee is a leaf, perhaps they do that because the coffee shop is in the park gardens beside the lake.
JayCee doesn't want to reveal that she is a secret watcher of Bangers and Cash, or that she thinks it's an MG TD Roadster from the early 1950s.
ReplyDeleteAha. Mr Dunham knows everything!
DeleteYummy Mummies. Iremember when I first heard that expression many years ago. My sis in law from aussie describing my daughters, friends and hordes of small kids. I didnt mind the noise back then. I'd be running now too if they invaded my coffee space. Far too much noise.
ReplyDeleteLots of loud shrieks are not compatible with hearing aids!
DeleteI am going to write about a new author I have just discovered in my blog today, so you might want to check him out. His name is Alex Michealides (hope I've spelled that right!)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris. I shall look out for him in the library.
DeleteYes. Those library books should keep you quiet JayCee - especially if his noble lordship chucks them at your head.
ReplyDeleteIf he did that there would be no one to wash his running kit or cook his sausages.
DeleteThe MG doesn't look right in silver; it should be red. I did once drive one (a TC I think), great fun; you really feel in control of something uncontrollable.
ReplyDeleteOur friends say they saw it too and thought that it may be a kit car. I know nothing about cars so have.no idea!
DeleteSeeing your 'Flat White' made me realise that I'm going to have to learn a whole new Coffee Language this winter. I wonder what I'd need to ask for to get my standard cup? Here I simply ask for Café.
ReplyDeleteSome places have a huge menu just for coffee!
DeleteRe you last post, looking at everyone's followers lists, no end of people seem to have become anonymous sillhouettes today.
ReplyDeleteMy upload issue seemed to have resolved itself the following day but in the meantime I had lost my sunset picture. Hopefully everyone else will be sorted out tomorrow.
DeleteMy brother in law had a Morgan which is very similar to the MG ….. that, too, attracted a lot of attention ….. is your new house close to the beach as well. ? XXXX
ReplyDeleteMy friend thought it may have been a Morgan. Shame I didn't get a closer look.
DeleteYes, the new house is not far from here so just a 4 or 5 minute walk to the beach. We can see the belltower from our sitting room window here. I am very impatient for it all to get moving! XXX
