Around The Block

It is very cold today but too bright and sunny to stay indoors.

I wrapped up in my padded jacket and went for a walk around the block. I intended to only do a half hour walk but the footpath was closed for repairs so I took the longer route instead.

I am glad that I did.  I feel so much better for the exercise.

  1. Love the sign…..Is it a warning sign or a proper recognised one.

    1. I think that one of the residents just got fed up with all those dog walkers who don't bother to "pick up"!

  2. Love the sign - hope it persuades a few to feel ashamed.
The walk looks lovely and I agree fresh air, however cold, makes you feel better - it's just the effort of wrapping up well.

    1. Sadly the sign doesn't appear to make much of a difference. Makes me smile though.

  3. Ha-ha! Dog Poo Lane! Clever. By the way, I thought that only Irish folk like Dave wore paddy jackets!

    1. The lane is just opposite the end of our drive and I see that sign every day. It makes me smile every time.

  4. Ha ha the poo lane, where we used to live in Suffolk a local group of volunteers went round clearing up mess and then named the streets on FB to try to shame people.

    1. There is so much of it in this town. You have to walk around looking down at the ground to avoid stepping in it. Such lazy people.

  5. Ha ha - we used to refer to our similarly polluted lane as "Landmine Alley". At least your sign isn't cryptic. Dog poo aside at least you have a nice green and leafy block to walk around.

    1. It is a bit like stepping on a land mine, but a soft explosion!

  6. I always have to watch the ground when I walk - dog poo, goose poo, cracks in the sidewalk to trip me up. But it does feel great to get out in the sunshine and exercise and I always feel better for it.

    1. Oh yes. Although it was only 4C I felt energised after a brisk one hour walk in the sunshine.

  7. Oh dear. Dog Poo Lane. Some people should not be permitted to have their animals if they are too lazy to do what needs done.

  8. Do you think Dog Poo Lane was written by the Beatles? Or maybe a fake band signed to Pickwick Records and you would buy a copy in Asda and realised they weren't the real thing? Been there, got the T shirt.

  11. Good to hear that you enjoyed your walk and feel better for it too. My husband has been able to walk two days in a row so we are hoping that the Thyroxine is kicking in now. We shall see.

The Monkey Puzzle tree reminded me of one that grew on the bus route into town and all the kids knew a rhyme which forbade speaking whilst you were going past it!

    1. I hope your husband soon feels the benefit of the Thyroxine. It has made a huge difference for me.

  12. I like the sign; a disgruntled neighbour I presume! I also like Monkey Puzzle trees, and wish that I'd had the foresight to plant one years ago. We had one in our communal garden, but it refused to grow, after about 20 years someone took it out.

  13. A lovely walk in spring sunshine - what could be more uplifting? After the last two years of enforced lockdowns it's such a treat to get out and about again.
The sign made me laugh too! As a dog owner it annoys me intensely to see owners ignore their pet's mess. I once offered a dog owner a poop bag - having three dogs at the time I always carried a pocketful! The would-be recipient looked at me in horror, batted it away, and walked on!

    1. There is one spot along the route where a gate leads to a footpath across the fields that regularly has 30 to 40 poo bags dumped there 🤔
