This Morning's Walk

My usual walking partner is away on  holiday so I was walking solo today.

P had an early start as he is marshalling at a fell race. He can't take part as he is suffering from a recurring knee injury.

I left the house at 9 a.m. so there were very few people around.

A little grey, breezy and overcast but not cold.

Just a short half hour loop around the lanes up behind the house to loosen up the muscles  and work off yesterday's excess food.

The lane verges were bursting with wild garlic and ivy.

This garden hedge could do with a trim

Back home again and a couple of shots of our bluebells and an azalea.

Coffee time now and the rest of Sunday to enjoy.

Happy Sunday!

    1. Thanks ADDY. It was quiet at that time of day but will get busy later as people are out and about for the weekend.

  2. You have a lovely place to walk. That hedge certainly looks as though it could do with a hair cut. Garden hedge? Its a forest. Reminds me of a few places around here where I have to duck or walk in the middle of the road

    1. Luckily I am not a tall person so I can just about walk beneath it!

  3. I think we notice more when we walk alone and our inner thoughts are more unfettered too. We walk at our own pace and stop naturally without apology or explanation.

By the way, I am interested in your reference to yesterday's food excesses. Did you take part in a pie eating competition or something?

    1. I enjoy walking alone, for the reasons you mention. It is quite soothing.
My food excesses were too many dark chocolate ginger biscuits plus a pecan twist pastry. I was Little Miss Piggy.

  4. Those conifers in the overgrown hedge were probably bought for one Pounds fifty each from Woolworths and now they will cost thousands to be removed.

  5. Your isle is so lovely! I enjoy the photos you take on your walks as they are a nice chance for me to explore the Isle of Man! I was without internet for a couple of days and I surely missed checking on the blogs! Thanks for posting, JayCee!

    1. My walks tend to follow the same routes week to week.
      I must get out more!

  6. I will be the odd person to say that garden hedge is gorgeous and I'd hate to see it taken out! I'm thankful that my neighbors tolerate my overgrown shrubbery!

    1. Each to his own, Celie. Most people are not lovers of those dense evergreens that smother everything.... not that I'm biased of course!

  9. What a lovely walk! That azalea, particularly, looks beautiful and very healthy. Northsider is right about the hedge, and so many people don't consider the long-term impact, especially when planting conifers.

    1. Yes there is a humungous conifer right up against the corner of our property, too close to the house for comfort. Thankfully it belongs to our neighbour who has just applied for a permit to have it taken down... before it falls through our roof!
