A Quiet Moment

Since our friends arrived last Sunday I have been quite busy.  Lots of cooking, cleaning, entertaining etc. etc. etc...

They have just gone out to watch the last of the racing, which finishes today, so I have a few hours to myself.

The weather, although generally fine, has been hit and miss with racing postponed or cancelled some days due to hill fog or rain, so it was a relief  to have a dry day today to finish off the race festival.

I have managed to snatch a few minutes here and there to catch up with some of your blogs but haven't had time to comment so apologies for that.

Our friends are due to leave on Wednesday, flying back to hot and sunny Nevada, so I hope to get back to my normal routine then.

There seems to be rather a large number of empty wine bottles here to take for recycling.  Not sure how that happened.

  2. When you say you "entertained" your friends, did that involve magic tricks, dancing or singing? I imagine you sang them the Nevada state song:-
    Home means Nevada,
    Home means the hills,
Home means the sage and the pines.
Out by the Truckee's silvery rills...

  3. It is a lot of work to have guests staying that long. You are gracious hosts to accommodate them, JayCee! Sounds like you enjoyed it, tho. :)

    1. Yes, we have enjoyed having them to stay although it has been quite a while since we have had guests visit for that length of time.

  4. It seems you've had a very good time, if the empties are anything to go by!
At one time it seemed to me that we were always saying goodbyes and preparing for the next set of arrivals.
It's a long time since I've actually had staying guests here. These days friends come to visit for a few hours, for coffee and chat, and I go to see them for a few hours. Most of my long-time friends are now ailing and feel too old to make even the shortest journeys. Since Covid they rarely seem to socialise, it's such a sad state of affairs.

    1. From reading your blog it seems you are very sociable but having people to stay would probably be very tiring.

  10. Can't IMAGINE how all those empties ended up at your place! The neighbors must have been confused about the recycling center!

  11. They breed, JayCee, didn't you know? You pout one next to another and before you know they've multiplied sixfold....or tenfold....!!
