Friday

It must have been quite cold overnight as all the windows were damp with condensation this morning.  Looking up through the skylights above my bed in the early hours I could see a host of stars winking down at me and the bright moonlight illuminating the bedroom.

I was supposed to be helping out at the charity shop this morning but they had enough volunteers so I did some food shopping instead and came home early.

It is chilly now so I have switched on the heating and am wrapped around a mug of tea and a Crimbles Big Choc Macaroon.

  1. I usually do round and wipe up the condensation - it used to take ages when there were 2 kids at home.

    1. All the downstairs windows are single glazed leadlights so the glass gets pretty cold.

  2. One of my favorite things about winter is coming out early in the morning, when it is still dark and settling down on the computer with my hot mug of coffee. This morning I was marveling over the stars, myself!

  3. Have you ever used a dehumidifier? Opening a window slightly is much colder and cheaper. We haven't turned our central heating on yet. The donkey jacket on the bed makes a good eiderdown.

    1. Yes, I have the dehumidifier on in one room which helps. None of the downstairs windows open (think church, stained glass etc) so it's just the trickle vents on ths upstairs Velux for ventilation. Nice and warm though with the heating on this evening.

  4. Our heat just turned on as it is getting chillier here too. It has been a rainy day so it is a good afternoon to snuggle up with a book!

    1. We have been trying to resist the temptation to switch on the heating up until now but I thought to hell with it. I want to be warm!

  5. Way over here where I live, we are still running air conditioning during the day, so I might be wrapping myself around a cold beer at day's end, but the hot tea days are coming.

    1. Our summers are short here. I soon tire of the long, drawn out winters but I still don't fancy living anywhere else.

  6. If you had blinds on your Velux windows, the winking peeping tom stars would not be able to see you lying there.

  7. It was the same here, when I looked out at night it was pitch black; the electricity was off but didn't affect our house. I had to clear the window of condensation.

    1. Ours were actually running with water that day. Back to normal now though.

  8. That's a lovely picture you draw. A mug of tea, a good bikkie and snuggly warmth. Our warmth is still from the sun. Sometime this month though I bet there's a sudden change.

  10. How miserable to have condensation on the windows, a sure sign winter is on the way. I used to hate all that mopping up in the days of single glazing.
19ºC here overnight, first time it's been into the teens since last spring. It's 25º now, the windows are open, and the sun is warming the rooms. Forecast is for more of the same, but I noticed the wind had a very chilly edge around 7:30 this morning. No heating on as yet, but I do change from a T shirt into a sweatshirt when I settle down for the evening.

    2. Probably as well that I didn't tell you about how busy the beach and sea were yesterday, then!
