Wine And Cheese

We were invited to our next door neighbours' house last night to join them for some pre-Christmas wine and cheese.

It had been a foul day with gale force winds and heavy rain so the "big boots" were needed for the walk down the drive and along the muddy lane to their house.

There was a very good selection of cheeses, olives, oatcakes, and more. I confess to having more than one helping of everything.

Elaine also makes her own chocolates. The beetroot confection covered in rich, dark chocolate was divine.

The company was good, the conversation flowed and we had a great evening. Three hours passed in a flash.

The rain has stopped today so I think I need a calorie-burning walk.

  1. How lovely! It's nice that you have got neighbours who are also friends. For the reciprocal date may I suggest several cans of Tetley's bitter and beef dripping sandwiches. This will prove that you and Perry are also sophisticated.

    1. It was. The filling had a similar texture to Turkish Delight, which I love.

  3. Now you’ve got us all curious - I’ll take your word for it that beetroot and chocolate pair well together.
I love that your lovely weather continues to amuse you. Hopefully the window man fixed the leaks and you’re not having to mop up the floor using all the old towels.
Oh and while I’m at it……Merry Christmas to you and your man. I’ll see you in the New Year.

    2. Beetroot puree is a marvelous way to moisten a chocolate brownie, so F is not surprised that it also made a delicious confection.

    1. It could have turned out quite differently when we moved here. Mr and Mrs Snoopy seem to have gone quiet these days 😌
