Winter

P has kindly passed on to me his cold, probably picked up from our trip last week.  Sore throat, cough and an excess of "gunk".

However, I am wrapped up in several warm layers with a plentiful supply of hot tea and have only ventured as far as the front door to take a photo of the memorial garden sycamore tree in its winter state...

At breakfast this morning we watched the most vivid sunrise slowly emerging;  the deep crimson and orange hues were mesmerising. I tried to capture it in a photo but this just doesn't do it justice.  It is also fuzzy because of the old glass in our kitchen window.

Winter can be very beautiful at times... when it is not raining.

  1. Having trouble leaving a comment here for some reason. The sun has only just got high enough to reach our garden, but has hit lovely patch of crocus, glowing yellow. No daffodils out yet, but some well on their way. I know the hellebores are flowering, but can't see them from the house. If I couldn't see lots of garden and sky through our windows I would hate it. 1. Yes although we needed to move into town for practical reasons I am glad we found a house surrounded by trees and views of the hills.

    1. It is a lovely tree. The tree surgeon did a good job thinning it out and reshaping the crown.

  3. That's a lovely sunrise. I can never get out there fast enough to capture a pretty sunrise. Hope you feel better soon, JayCee.

    1. Thanks Ellen. It is not the worst cold I have had so I'm hoping it will all be over soon.
The sunrise can be quite a fleeting experience. Grab it while you can!

  4. Sorry to hear you're poorly again. You really do need to winter in a warmer clime. Wouldn't recommend Greece at the moment. We are having our first lot of snow. Not around here but it's damp and chilly.

  5. That is one beautiful sunrise. I often try to take a sunrise/sunset photograph and they never show how beautiful it is ...... it never looks as good in a photograph as it does in real life. XXXX

  8. Your glorious sunrise looks exactly like the spectacular sunset we had last night. I didn't have chance to go outside to photograph it as a friend was here. It was very cold last night and is still only +5ºC this morning with the sun out, so I wonder if the chill adds to the intensity of colours?
I hope that your miserable cold doesn't linger. There are some things that we just don't want from husbands, and that's one of them!
