I believe it is davus northsiderae - a prickly and invasive plant native to south west Ireland. It thrives on FYM and likes listening to progressive rock bands.
It looks like Australian TeaTree. Not for making cups of tea of course! A shrubby plant, natural coastal areas around here are full of it. Proper name Leptospermum. Usually has white flowers in the wild but has been bred to have pink ones in garden varieties. Bees do love it!
Although I am quite used to talking to myself, any comments on my posts are very welcome, provided they are not abusive. I do reply to them so please check back. It's good to talk (!)
Picture This says it is a Broom Teatree JayCee.

ReplyDeleteThe previous owners must have spent a lot of money on plants and shrubs. There are some real beauties there.
DeleteAlso known at Manuka in NZ (yes that stuff the expensive honey comes from).
ReplyDeleteAha. It does seem to be popular with the bees.

DeleteNo idea what it is, but the Camellia looks very healthy.
ReplyDeleteEvery Kiwi will recognize it. Manuka. Or Tea Tree. As in Manuka honey or TeaTree oil.
